Local News Platforms

Contact your local news platform. They won’t always cover a story but you can always give it a shot.

Journalists are always looking for stories that are of interest to the community and projects that improve the local area. Events involving lots of people or neighbours who have come together to solve a problem will normally interest local journalists.

The types of things you will need to tell them

What is your project all about? Make sure you include all the exciting details about what you are doing.

What is trying to achieve? Use examples of what the aim is and what difference the project could make.

When is it happening? Make sure you include as much information as possible, correct venue, postcode, dates and times to meet.

How can people get involved and help? Be clear about what you want people to do.

Where can people go for more information? You can provide a link to your website or your community project page on Do Something Good.

Who can people contact for more information? It might be a good idea to have an email address and a telephone number for people to contact.

They will want as much information about your event or project as possible, so try to have that available before you make contact with them.
