Your Voice, Your Hanwell

If you live, work or study in Hanwell then you may recognise it as a well-connected place full of tranquil green spaces, the Grand Union Canal and the River Brent meandering through, lovingly tended by groups such as Cultivate London at Dig Hanwell, Hanwell and Norwood Green Orchard Trail and Katherine Buchan Meadow.

In contrast, the town becomes loud and alive during the summer with a vibrant and varied community events calendar building on the history of Marshall Amplification at the Hanwell Hootie, and a community led Hanwell Carnival.

On the northern side of the town’s centre there are opportunities to learn more about the natural world at Hanwell Zoo and to hear the sounds of bands regularly performing at the Hanwell Cavern, in the basement of the frequently used Hanwell Community Centre.

Hanwell has a community library providing a wide range of activities for residents of all ages and is also home to many different faith based and secular community organisations that instinctively understand how to support someone when it’s needed, and how to help those people to regain their independence, for example through the exemplary Store Cupboard and the tireless work of the Foodbank, the William Hobbayne Charity and Empowering Action and Social Esteem.
