Social inclusion service for lonely and isolated people

Ongoing Project

The Solace Centre, Equinox is open 3-7pm from Monday-Friday, combats loneliness and isolation for clients with long and enduring mental health diagnosis needing social inclusion, building confidence, stability, and independence, reducing escalation and hospital relapse.

We are a community based mental health support network improving Mental Health resilience.

We offer purpose, volunteering/peer support and assistance around the Solace encouraging healthier habits and lifestyles. Day to day members might be having a tea/juice, chatting or joining into Mindfulness or other groups, playing pool, games, cooking, learning new skills.

We are practical. Breaking down issues into bite sizes so our members build confidence, self manage, become more independent and achieve goals. Interactions are often informal (quick catch ups, a cup of tea together or privately) as individuals or in groups. We check in with members’ current situation / issues arising to listen / make practical suggestions, breaking down issues into more manageable bite size goals.

We are person centred, a small, long term staffing team who talk often daily with our members over such a broad range of topics.

We have an in-depth knowledge, connection and understanding of our member’s situations. Healthy lifestyles come from building healthy relationships so talking, learning and understanding differences, good communication and talking through difficulties.

We support our members build, practice and develop skills and prepare events/workshops/groups enabling our members to speak out, sing or dance individually or in big groups – raising confidence in a safe space.
