Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

If you like to plan events or are a dab hand at fundraising this could be the role for you.

Parent Teacher Associations (PTA’s) are made up of parents/carers and teachers and they normally hold their annual general meeting in September at the beginning of the new school term. The committee is elected by the PTA, which includes roles such as chair, vice chair, a treasurer, secretary and ordinary committee members.

PTA’s are best known for their fundraising work, by hosting events such as summer fairs, firework displays, international evenings, discos, school uniform sales and much more. The funds raised are spent on activities or additional features to make learning a fun experience. These could include playground equipment, new computers or presents for Father Christmas to distribute.

Contact your local school’s PTA to find out how you can take part.
