Become a community champion

The champion’s role helps connect the council, partner with organisations such as the NHS, community organisations and communities in the borough to support health and wellbeing through regular conversation and interaction.

As trusted voices within their community, champions are best placed to share reliable information and signpost residents to relevant support services available.

Is this role for you?

This voluntary role is flexible, and there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ model.

• Your connections in the communities can be small or large or represent a specific group of people or social network.
• Conversations can take place at your convenient space; this could be at cafes, libraries, places of worship, school fairs, book clubs, faith events  etc.

Our support:

Forums: We run forums every two months giving you an opportunity to meet with, hear, discuss, and learn from specialist guest speakers, other champions and colleagues on a range of topics related to health and wellbeing and their ‘building blocks’, the life conditions that create good health.

Training: Free training to develop your skills such as digital, social media, communication & networking -make every contact count and more.

Increase your knowledge and understanding of the ‘building blocks of health’ and the impact they can have on our wellbeing and ability to thrive.

Guidance to start your own Project: Opportunity to network, share ideas, link up with other community projects and organisations, or apply for funding to start a project you are passionate about.
